Ellen Wallenstein is a photographer and professor based in New York City. She earned a BA in Art History from SUNY Stony Brook and a MFA in Photography from Pratt Institute, where she is currently an Adjunct Full Professor. She teaches photography and book arts classes at Pratt and the School of Visual Arts, and writes articles and book reviews for several online and printed magazines.
A NYFA (New York Foundation for the Arts) Photography Fellow, who shoots long-term documentary projects, her work has been nominated for the Alfred Eisenstadt Award and the Santa Fe Prize. Her project “Respecting My Elders” a collection of color portraits of well-known creative persons over the age of 80 who have contributed to the American Culture, was published as a book in 2013.
