Garrett Baumer was born in Dayton, Ohio and currently resides in Chicago, IL. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography from the University of Louisville in 2006 and his Master of Fine Arts in photography from Columbia College Chicago in 2012. As part of his art making practice, Garrett became the artist in residence in digital arts/photography at the Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago in 2012. His body of work, Restricted Access, has been featured in an issue of PDN’s Emerging Photographer and Photograph Magazine did a feature on Garrett’s studio practice in 2016. Garrett is a member of The Chicago Project at the Catherine Edelman Gallery and part of the Midwest Photographers Project at the Museum of Contemporary Photography. Professionally Baumer is co-founder and photographer for Field Creatives, a commercial photography business.
