STATEMENT
German Arrubla’s artistic work rotates around
four main concepts:
Memory and its areas of influence – Arrubla
recollects personal and family experiences,
contextualises objects he finds, and evokes
historical events; in each case adding
elements from his imagination, fiction and
fabrication.
Time – which he analyses from the Now and
the A-temporal perspective simultaneously.
Anonymity – it is fundamental to treat a
specific phenomenon as a subject active
within a community rather than shaping it
from a personal point of view.
History – observed through its socio-political
and religious components or simply through
everyday experience.
The tools needed to analyse these concepts
are:
Unveiling – removing all coverings in order
to highlight a new reading.
Scrutinize – taking extra time to examine
a circumstance in order to discover what
lies beneath.
Revisit – revisiting significant events, which
seem to have been collectively forgotten,
although they are still clearly documente
