Born (1970) and raised in Germany (near Berlin). Hanging about in several countries as a young woman, she almost became an artist (a traveller or a painter or a writer). Due to bad conscience she eventually gained University degrees in linguistics and medicine. The latter is still making the largest part of her living, and Donna Lupa gained some international visibility in her life as a scientist and physician (under a pseudonym). Contra-intuitively, in her true life as a passionate artist and photographer she has hardly been noticed yet. Donna Lupa lives in a remote hamlet in the Swiss mountains, and this living in extreme circumstances strongly inspires her work. Her photography could be described as visual poetry of the moment. She does not search for images, she finds them.
