Jaasir Linger (b. Zoetermeer, The Netherlands, 1991) is currently a pre-graduate student at the prestigious Fotoacademie Amsterdam. His work is based on his life ethos of enlightenment and self-enrichment. To him light (knowledge of different fields of science, philosophy and arts) is his wisdom and darkness is needed to see this light, so that eventually he can be (more) enlightened and able to better understand reality.
The often, analog, black and white images he abstracts in such a way from reality that they look as though they have been taken in another world. In this way he challenges the viewer to take a better look at the world and their own environment.
Recurring motifs in his works are elements of light & darkness, nature, science-fiction and the other-worldly atmosphere that is often coming back in his images. The descriptive character of the subject photographed is less important compared to the transformation of the subject photographed into something other-worldly .
