About Jelani Ameer

My name is Jelani Ameer and I am a New York native multi-hyphenate. Currently, a lot of my creative energy has been channeled into film photography. Specifically portraiture and street photography. I feel that as a photographer, and a Black man, it is my responsibility to document and archive moments in time.

The moments that will live well beyond any of us. My work will serve as a reference point for how life looked once upon a time. There is a spirit that greats such as Vivian Maier, Gordon Parks, Carrie Mae Weems, and Fan Ho channeled into their work. Timeless frames that have gone on to have lives of their own. That is the lineage I am proud to be a part of.
