About Jim Joel

I am a Ugandan, travel photographer with experience in travel, nature and portraiture photography. My travels to many parts of Uganda and recently to South America has exposed me to Uganda’s diverse nature, wildlife and culture, of which I have a portfolio on my Instagram account. https://www.instagram.com/jim_joel_photography_safaris/
I started out as a wedding photographer, traveling to document cultural weddings. This exposure to different cultural beliefs in different parts of Uganda led to a quest to understand other cultures beyond the urban city Kampala. I realized that different cultures embrace nature differently, for instance, most of the people’s totems in a region were derived from the surrounding nature and environment. City names were as a result of nature that used to exist in these places, for example, Kampala the capital city of Uganda derived its name from the Impalas that were many in this region back then.
