About Jinyu Liu

Jinyu Liu is a photographer living in China now. He has been documenting and interpreting Chinese culture and neighborhoods for nearly ten years. His photos have been shown in solo and group exhibitions around the world, including Power Plant Gallery (Durham, NC), Rubenstein Art Center (Durham, NC) and China Medium Museum (Beijing, China). After graduating with an MFA degree from Duke University in 2019, Jinyu came back to China and instructed students in Duke Kunshan University. Beyond participating in campus life, he constantly explores nearby neighborhoods with his camera. He concentrates on photographing how culture and daily life across generations are in negotiation with spaces. His photographs always capture the essence of perplexity he experiences with his subjects.
