I am José Luis Carrillo, photographer. With 39 years old I manage MISTOS, photography school in Alicante. Also, I am co-director of the Master degree PhotoAlicante in Contemporary Photography and Author Projects.
I have studied University Expert in Photography and Creative Action by Miguel Hernández University. In 2009, after working as a consultant for Culture and Citizen Participation for 10 years, I started as a professional photographer.
In 2012 with two colleagues, we created MISTOS Photography School which I am managing today. In this school I am teaching the main subjects by doing an average of 30 courses per year and forming about 200 students.
I have combined my professional side with the development of a personal work that has been exposed in various spaces. Here, a small summary of the most important:
- 2011 “Brins de memoria” (linen cloth of memory) Documentary project about traditional agricultura.
- 2012 ”VIHsiones” (VHIsions). Collaborative social photography, carried out with HIV patients, victims of social exclusion. With the collaboration of ONG Cáritas.
- 2012: “35mm” On the occasion of my 35th birthday I made a presentation of my work done in 35mm.
- 2013 “Con los ojos del refugiado” (With the eyes of the refugee) Social photography. With the collaboration of Red Cross.
- 2013 “On the road” Exhibition of my musical photography.
- 2014 “Urban sohts” Urban intervention inaugurating the 1st edition of PhotoAlicante International Contemporary Photography Festival.
- 2014 “Color bruto” (Gross color) Color photography, pop art. Itinerant collective exhibition.
- 2015 “Cuadernos de viaje” (Travel notebooks). Work in
progress. Documentary photography, urban and travel.
- 2015 “Los hijos del Ciervo” (Children of the Deer) Work in
progress. Documentary photography of an uninhabited territory.

• Titulado en Fotografía y Acción Creativa por la Univ. Miguel Hernández. (2009) Especializado en fotografía analógica y procesos fotográficos alternativos.
• Formación con otros fotógrafos: Chema Madoz, Alberto García-Alix, Ouka Leele, Gervasio Sánchez, Matías Costa, Israel Luri, Ricky Dávila, Gregorio Arroyo, etc….

-“Los hijos del Ciervo” (work in progress). Proyecto seleccionado en Festival PhotoAlicante 2017. Proyecto seleccionado en ArtPhoto BCN 2017.
-“Más allá del frío” (2015) Trabajo conceptual sobre Berlín. Proyecto seleccionado en Festival Internacional PhotoAlicante 2016.
-“Urban shooters” (2015) Intervención urbana realizada para inaugurar el I Festival Internacional PhotoAlicante 2015
-“Color bruto” (2014) Fotografía en color, arte pop. Exposición colectiva itinerante.
-“On the road” (2013) Exposición de mi fotografía musical.
-“Con los ojos del refugiado” (2013) Fotografía social. Con la colaboración de Cruz Roja Española.
-“VIHsiones” (2012) Fotografía social colaborativa, realizado junto a enfermos de VIH víctimas de exclusión social. Con la colaboración de Cáritas Diocesana.
-“35mm” (2012) Exposición recopilatoria de mi trabajo realizado en 35mm.
-“Brins de memoria” (2011) Proyecto documental sobre la huerta tradicional de Mutxamel.
