Joyce P. Lopez studied at the Univ. of Illinois and the Art Institute of Chicago. She has exhibited nationally, internationally and in online exhibitions including the Martha Schneider Gallery in Chicago, the Chicago Project-Catherine Edelman Gallery, Fotoweek DC, The Julia Margaret Cameron International exhibition in Buenos Aires among others. She has received a number of awards including The Julia Margaret Cameron awards, Professional Women Photographers, Photography Masters Cup International, International Photography Awards and a Ragdale Residency. Her work has appeared in numerous publications including Focus Magazine, Silvershotz and PDN. Her work is included in the collections of W Magazine, Illinois Museum, Sony Corporation of America, State of Washington, State of Illinois, among others. Joyce’s photography often deals with environmental issues whether it is birds dying during their migrations, or man made environmental problems impacting global food issues, to climate changes directly affecting the planet. Her work is object oriented and graphic , often printed with black backgrounds, rather than documentary type images. She has lived in Chicago, Copenhagen, Tanzania and now resides in Florida.
