Junko Akita was born in Kobe, Japan. She received her BA and MA from School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Currently Junko lives and works in Oslo, Norway.
She began her photography carrier as food photographer and attended the 2-year photography course at Bilder Nordic School of Photography. During the study she received 3rd and 2nd place in the contest `Student Food Photographer of the Year´ held by Pink Lady Food Photography Award in 2018 and 2019. She continues taking advanced photography course at BNSOP.
Junko´s projects have focused primarily on the issues that are closed to her. Junko combines portraits, still life and landscape photography to build up her photography projects, often in a conceptual way. Lighting is very important for her to set the mood.
Junko´s photographs were exhibited at Mall Galleries in London in relation to Pink Lady Food Photography award in 2018 and in 2019.
