About Karin Claus

Karin Claus: born 19th of February in Geleen but raised in Sittard.

As a child I loved drawing and crafts. I chose to go the MAVO where I knew I could take art as a final. During art history classes I became interested in the works of Dali and Escher.. With a degree in graphic designing and photography as a hobby I retrained to become a creative DTP-er and professional photographer. During this retraining period it became clear to me that I was most drawn by the artistic and creative side of photography.

Whereas before I used a pencil and paper, I now draw with light, blending reality with fantasy. Using digital and polaroid cameras and various effect (vintage) lenses I go out to capture the scenery. My photos can be dubbed as artistic, abstract, experimental, disfigured, faded and budged.
I find inspiration for my work in the works of Escher, Dali, Rorschach and nature. Especially experimenting make photography so much fun and fulfilling for me.
