About Katalin Száraz
Katalin Száraz (1988) is using photography as a tool of therapy and exploration, applying the elements of experimental and narrative photography. Her observations are focused on remembrance, personal archive and the issue of home in the light of living abroad, furthermore the connection between identity and the rootless lifestyle. She experiments a lot at the border areas of photography and mixes different mediums, so her works are characterised by aesthetic diversity, maintaining a speci c coherence.
Her photographs have been published by magazines and platforms like The Washington Post, Woman in Photography and Artconnect. She has participated in group exhibitions in London, Gothenburg, Berlin and Vienna and she got the opportunity to show her work at a solo ex- hibition at Off Festival Bratislava. Last year the International Center of Photography has been showcasing her work in New York at the frame of a group exhibition.
Katalin has graduated at her Masters in photography at the Moholy Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest in 2015. She has been studying for a half year in the photography department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, and after her graduation she got a schol- arship to Stuttgart. In 2018 she has travelled in Southeast Asia for 6 months to realize her project plans. At the moment she is living and working between Paris and Budapest.
