Lucas Gibson is a photographer, visual artist and teacher based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has a post-graduation degree in photography and currently is doing a master in Visual Arts in the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He studied Japanese language, literature and culture at Osaka University from 2014 to 2015. As a visual artist, he exhibited his work in group exhibitions in England, Italy, France, Japan and Brazilian festivals. In 2017, he was selected by David Alan Harvey to be one of the winners of Magnum Rio Caravan 70 scholarship and part of his work was incorporated to Joaquim Paiva’s Collection (MAM-RJ). In the same year, he was selected during the 10th FesfFotoPOA to join the portfolio review platform in The Triennial of Photography Hamburg that happened in 2018. In 2019, he won the prize for best portfolio in FotoRio Festival and his work was selected by curator Marion Tandé (MoMA) to be one of the winners of the NightLife Contest of the V Life Framer Prize.
