LUCAS GIBSON (b. 1992) is a Brazilian photographer based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has a degree in photography and currently is doing a master in Visual Arts in Rio de Janeiro Federal University. He began to photograph in 2015, when he studied Japanese language, literature and culture at Osaka University. His work was exhibited in Japan and in important festivals in Brazil, such as Paraty Em Foco, FestFoto and Festival de Tiradentes.
In 2017, his series "Under the Nerve of the Night" was selected by David Alan Harvey to be the winner of Magnum Rio Scholarship, so he could study with Magnum photographer Cristina García Rodero. In the same year, his same series was selected by polish curator Krzysztof Candrowicz to join the portfolio review platform in The Triennal of Photography Hamburg, that happened 2018.
