About Lynn Saville

Fine art photographer Lynn Saville roams American cities at dusk and dawn. Her explorations have taken her to iconic urban sites as well as fringe areas far from the center of town.

Saville earned an M.F.A. in Photography at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. There she became interested in low-light urban photography, exploring the city's streets at dusk and dawn.

Saville's photographs have been widely exhibited in the U.S. and abroad. Her work is represented by the Yancey Richardson Gallery, New York City. She has published three full-length monographs, the most recent being Dark City: Urban America at Night (Damiani, 2015). That book is introduced by Geoff Dyer, who included this introduction in his book titled See/Saw: Looking at Photographs.

Previous monographs are Night/Shift (Random House/Monacelli), with an introduction by Arthur C. Danto, and Acquainted with the Night(Rizzoli), with an introduction by Joseph Rosa.

Saville has been awarded grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, fellowships from The New York Foundation for the Arts and The New York State Council for the Arts; and First Place in the Architecture category, Women in Photography International, among others. Yancey Richardson Gallery exhibited her project "Elevated" in April 4 - May 18, 2024.
