Marcel is largely an autodidact who prefers to learn by doing. He received basic formal training at the NAVB / Photo Academy Rotterdam. He combines his passion for writing with photography.
“ I like to explore the dynamics between words and photographic images. It makes me search deeper and helps me to reflect on topics that I think are important. My work is an invitation for the reader-viewer to do the same. “
In his ambition to grow as a photographer, Marcel allows himself a more or less eclectical approach, combining two opposites.
" I am equally drawn to street photography as I am to photographing nature.
The street is fast, cursory. My photographs are about the decisive moment, about light and shadow, about a story that is worth telling, and sometimes about the confusion of planes and elements.
Nature, on the other hand, is slow. It invokes a sense of eternity. This is why, in landscape photography, I choose to revert to my Mamiya C330. I prefer to take my time, feeling the landscape while considering alternative compositions, and carefully manage exposures. “
