About minjue

minjue (b.1997, KR) (She/Her) is a Korean photographic artist based in Amsterdam.

She creates fictional narratives from historical facts, constructing images as one might write a novel. By following individuals within their social contexts, her work explores what enables a society to become safe and stable, and how personal and collective histories shape the worlds we inhabit.

Her practice is grounded in close observation and a belief in each person’s capacity to shape their surroundings. Through photography, she examines social structures and their contradictions, tracing historical narratives and the relationships within them. Rather than simply raising questions, her work engages critically with the complexities embedded in social systems.

She is a recipient of the LensCulture Critics' Choice Awards 2026 and has exhibited her work internationally, including at PhotoVogue 2026 and Rotterdam Photo’26. She holds a BA in Photography from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (NL) and an AD in Photographic Art from Kaywon University of Art and Design (KR).
