About Natasha Johl

Quitely watching light and space, creating an intimate portrait of life.

I am an artist/ photographer living and working in Colombia. I create stories via pictures and share them with the world.
My work engages the sense of interactions between people and their environments. By presenting an intimate portrait of life my photographs are often described as intuitive, and poetic, meaning having an imaginative or sensitively emotional style of expression. My work uncovers those small, innate and imagined details of life which are easily overlooked, absorbing a deeper and closer perspective, demonstrating a deep human connection. I detect subtle changes, what exists with one glimpse, no longer exists at another.
Playing carefully with light and movement, I create dynamic frames, rich in colour and contrast, which stimulate the use of space and perception. When making my work I try to soak up specific, often common feelings and emotions of the ‘everyman’ and share these with my audience.
