Paul Carter was born in Wexford, Ireland in 1979. Graduating with a BA in Painting from the National College of Art & Design in 2001, Carter went on to become part of a small group of artists in Wexford to establish Gorey School of Art. In 2004, Carter began a unique MA in Virtual Realities at the National College of Art & Design where he specialised in photography and video.
His work has been exhibited in the Royal Hibernian Academy Dublin, Switch Room Gallery Belfast, 411 Galleries Shanghai, International Center for Contemporary Art New York and VISUAL Carlow.
Patrick J. Murphy HRHA (Art Advisor, OPW) wrote in his introduction to an OPW publication entitled Reflections; "Paul Carter's Temple of Hephaistos demonstrates the exciting possibilities of lens-based art at the present time."
Carter currently teaches photography at Gorey School of Art and is part of a small team running a not for profit art space in North Wexford called Periphery Space (www.periphery.space)
