Based in Berlin for the past 10 years the photographer Paula Faraco (Brazil 1985) made the decision of returning to her home town, Rio de Janeiro.
Graduated in Photography from Ostkreuz Schule für Fotografie (Berlin 2013), Faraco also holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism from UniverCidade (Rio de Janeiro 2007). Faraco was part of group exhibitions in Berlin, Stuttgart, Stockholm and Kuala Lumpur. In 2016 and 2017 she was selected for artistic residency programs: Listhus (Iceland) and, Arteles (Finland). In 2016, her photo ‘Niagara Falls’ won as well an Honourable Mention (Fine Arts category) from the Moscow International Photography Award. The photographer received a second Honourable Mention for the series 'Vulnerable sexuality', on the category Photography Series 'Women seen by women' from the 15th Julia Margaret Cameron Award in 2020.
Her work focuses on the narrative: reports on gender, sexuality, freedom, and death.
