Phillip Jenkins is currently based in Bearsden, Glasgow and is working on three projects related to the area.
Green Hollow is a collection of colour pictures showing Glasgow city as it is today. Town of the Grey Dog is a series of pictures taken of the people of Glasgow as they go about their daily business with most pictures taken of people on public transport. Barrowlands is a series of panoramic colour pictures taken in and around the Barrowlands and Barra market area of Glasgow.
Phillip Jenkins was previously a Suzhou-based photographer who mostly worked in street photography, capturing the other side of Suzhou’s technology gloss and Shanghai’s unabashed glitz to document the everyday lives of these cities’ working class members.
After moving to China in 2011 Phillip decided to document the people of China in various cities, from Suzhou and Shanghai in the South East to Jinzhou in the far North.
Phillip has currently finished working on four Chinese projects, ‘Rock and a Hard Place’, ‘Jinzhou – The Dark City’, ‘Traffic’ and ‘Urban Desires’.
