The Sony World Photography Awards were launched in 2007 by the World Photography Organisation. Its aim is to recognise and reward the best contemporary photography in the world.

Now in its eighth year, the awards are the world’s largest photography competition, attracting 173,444 entries from 171 countries in its 2015 edition.

From Chile to China, over 4,000 winning, shortlisted and commended photographers from around the world have been recognised in the awards’ history. They have brought untold reward and recognition to those involved and each year offers the latest Sony digital imaging equipment and cash prizes.

Free to enter, photographers of all abilities are invited to submit either their best single shots or series of work. The images are judged by the World Photography Organisation and a specially selected jury from the World Photographic Academy which is made up on the photographic industry’s most esteemed individuals.

The awards offer an unparalleled opportunity for exposure for photographers at all stages of their career and are known worldwide by industry leaders.
