Historically snakes have been associated with some of the oldest rituals and symbols known to humankind. They've represented fertility and been acknowledged as a creative life force, and also the shedding of their skin has been a symbol for rebirth, transformation, immortality and healing.
The sacred snake has also been the potent guardian of temples and sacred places. The ouroboros ( a circular symbol of a snake swallowing its tail) has been acknowledged as an emblem of wholeness and infinity.
Six of the the seven images in this collection originate only from the cover image 'Sacred Snake'. Using different techniques I've experimented with over time, that one image has been transformed into what could be considered different symbols associated with the snake through the ages and different cultures.
