I’ve recently have been more interested in using my hands to physically manipulate the pictures I make. I have always loved instant film, particularly the fact that they are one of a kind and are physical containers of actual captured light. Here the image captured with the camera is made secondary to the mark making into the photographic containment space. The initial photograph of actual light rays is more like an internal "background layer" - to use the language of Photoshop - for the physical photo object. I use a colored blank wall or overexpose the image while using a color gel on the instax camera to get a color wash that I can interrupt with my mark-making.
