New York City is incredibly visually rich. It's a gritty city oozing with uniqueness. Much of this unique character can only be seen up close. In this project, I aimed to do just that - get in close and personal with my subjects. I wanted to uncover their idiosyncrasies, the things that make them who they are which, for me, often means omitting the face. Human faces are visually dominant and I wanted my viewers to focus in on the other things available in a photograph which bring individuality and personality to the subjects. These photos, while jarring or even awkward at first, can be intensely rewarding for the viewer willing to actually invest in the seeing.
This is work from my final year as a street photographer - hence the title, La Fin.
