Submission statement:
To help appease a personal concern about a possible ontology of the photographic image, I developed a series of exercises with a camera. On which the skills of the instrument or electronic apparatus were to be documented, as well as the three-dimensional manipulation of the binomial created apparatus-photography. The exercises are part of an ongoing experiment and can be seen as a kind of 'game' that according to the glossary for a future photography philosophy of Vilém Flusser is 'an activity that has its end in itself' (1). An image of my authorial archive was chosen, mentioning that for this experimentation was selected an image that had previously been discarded. The selected image has been edited, printed and fixed in a wall. The camera was positioned in order to only contemplate the photograph in its frame and the experimentation process was started. The photographic camera that actually also films was prepared to film all the process, which means that while operating the diaphragm, exposure time, focus, white balance, ISO, etc. the camera was filming. The experience begins.
The experience unfolds in the first moment within the questions implicit to the circularity related to the visual, through the use of the circular form in the experiences; it is then directed to the manipulation of the 'punctum' (2) of the photograph, sometimes evidencing it or omitting it; and above all, plays with the already mentioned technical competences of the electronic photographic instrument; Finally goes through the limits of the finite framing that photography makes possible. The experiment, for now, is finished.
