My passion for photographing animals who have died along the highways and bi-ways in the United States is one that comes from a desire to honor their lives and recognizes the connection between human beings and the animal kingdom. Each state has beautiful landscapes and wildlife unique to that area of the country. Images in this ongoing project were taken of animals as they were found along the roadway and have not been moved or touched. In showing the interaction that happens when humans in vehicles collide with that space and that it sometimes ends badly for animal and human, I hope to honor their existence. Although these images can be upsetting, I find they are also beautiful just as nature is in it's most raw form of survival, life, death and existence.
The ultimate goal in this project is to travel to all states and create a complete collection in publishing a photography book.
