Projekt Y "Congress" is a series of staged bust portraits where the title refers to the Y chromosome. Inspired by classical portrait paintings and Roman bust sculptures, I wanted to experiment capturing fellow students with similar experiences in a uniform manner in which the person portrayed takes the same static attitude within a corresponding cadrage. By portraying these people with an absent look, their own personality appears to fade and a new collective identity is created that refers to a self-portrait. The individual titles (example; 0911 / 11.30, 2017) of the work refer on the one hand to the time at which the images were made, the use of the Exif data on the other hand to digitized photography.
