The 10 photographs I have submitted here are a selection from an on-going conceptual series I have been building gradually since 2014, entitled 'Cross Planes'.
The series is comprised of single frame, double exposed 35mm analogue photographs, created using a conjunction of vision, instinct, poetic chance, fate and faith with the aim of finding and expressing a certain balance between artistic and spiritual fulfilment and the simple aesthetic pleasure achievable only through the beautiful imperfection of film photography.
The images explore the constantly fluctuating relationship between the infinite and the finite; the soul and the mind; dream and reality. They represent the hazy, but sharp contrast between harmony, unity and surrender to the natural flow of life and the opposing conditioned resistance of the human mind.
Although presented as I have presented them here digitally, the photo’s orientation is partly subjective. The personal differentiation between freedom and doubt, or intrigue and concern as reactions in a viewer to the question of a particular shot’s orientation is part of the concept’s original intended impact. They are open to interpretation in every respect.
The overall aim is one of simple visual satisfaction however. Please enjoy. ☺
