This Is Where

These 10 images are from my photographic book, "This Is Where", and was exhibited in my senior thesis show. "This Is Where" My family, the Holden family, has been part of the East Texas community since my grandfather hand-built our family home in Flint, Texas in 1980. I began photographing this area over three years ago to bring awareness to the people, place, and history of this rural and under-explored location. I became increasingly conscious of confinement, silence, and isolation when making these photographs. Expanding on this psychology, "This Is Where" weaves together relationships within dense pine forests, vast agricultural landscapes, roadside objects, architecture, workers, family, and Native American history.
