Modern Queens

MODERN QUEENS Portraits of young women, born around 1990. They don’t care about beauty ideals, fashion and how to look like a woman. They work with their bodies, tatoos, piercings, impressive eyebrows.They are strong and free: MODERN QUEENS. I decided red colors as backgrounds to support the power. In my series „ Women in Hotel“, which I photographed in 1990s, I searched for the first time this point of resistance to the photographic situation to let the photographed out of the object role. This is the feminist signature in my work. 30 years later, with MODERN QUEENS, I have women in front of my camera, who live this resistance in their fashion and with their bodies.
