Missouri Ozarks

Missouri’s least arable region, the Ozark Highlands, is, not surprisingly, the most photogenic. Fire suppression and logging have changed the size of the trees and the composition of its forests. Its steeper parts are quite wild if not exactly wilderness. Clear, fast-flowing rivers that trench this limestone plateau attract modern Arcadian recreationalists. Reservoirs created by damming the lower Osage and the White rivers have become mass tourist attractions.
