Poverty and hunger is something we associate with countries far away from our daily western lives. Most people do not realize that even in a wealthy country like The Netherlands 1,2 million people live of a low income and about 1 in 9 children grow up on the brink of poverty. Over the last decade foodbanks have grown out to a large logistics company fully run by volunteers. These people work in over 160 regional dutch food banks to make around 100.000 food parcels every week. Foodbanks have settled in our system and are seen as a solution for a big and structural problem, but are they really?
