The skin of summer

“The skin of summer” is a kind of disassambled travel diary, it’s pages thorn and isolated. Although the series is about a summer on the road the diary does not focus on time and place but rather on an emotional journey. The photographs, far from being the typical images of the holidays, try to capture the sensation of pleasure and nostalgia that overwhelm me during the summer. These sensations and experiences end up engraved and recorded on the skin as well as the sunlight records the photographic image on the photosensitive support. Our own skin is a notebook in which all the journeys are written. With our skin we feel the environment: the heat and the cold; the water, the wind, the touch of the others. The skin is our tender and sensitive shield with which we experience the world and we protect ourselves from it. The series is made of chemical black and white prints. These are made on handmade cotton paper on which liquid photographic emulsion is applied.
