These ten images are drawn from a larger set of Street Photographs entitled “Framed” – B&W digital images of individuals who are visually, physically or socially “framed” or contained by aspects of their environment – sometimes by other people. Often the frames simply highlight the subject or direct our attention; some of those elements seem to isolate or protect; some enclose or envelope.
As I worked to discern which images to present in a limited set, I became aware of the role of hands in these photographs. My objective is that the viewer will sense that there is a story in each image and linger over it, following the gesture, emotion - or connection - of the hands.
All images in this set were made in 2018/19, with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200.
