Ladakh

Ladakh in India's north is a region of great contrast and beauty. Amongst the frozen lakes, desolate plains and towering peaks of the Himalayas are communities of people with a rich culture and history surviving on the edge of absolute wilderness. This series was captured during winter, a time when the environment is particularly harsh and unforgiving, but also a time when the Ladakhi people come together to celebrate Tibetan Buddhist customs and welcome in the new year. This collection of images aims explore the diversity and beauty of the landscape and culture of Ladakh.
