Where The Sun Rises
In my hometown of Maracaibo, Venezuela is always summer. Similar to Toronto, it has a lake where the sun rises every day.
Unfortunately, Lake Maracaibo was taken and contaminated by the oil industry long before I was born. Of its crystal clear waters and recreational activities, just old fashioned photographs have remained as testimony. Therefore, when I emigrated and was lucky enough to settle near Lake Ontario, I have felt blessed to have the opportunity to enjoy the lifestyle around a lake that my hometown had denied me.
These photo series are the result of the creative process that helped me overcome my cultural duel while learning to embrace my new home. They depict my perception of the places where I love to live in and where my new dawn has begun.
