IKONINK is photographer Eva Mueller’s latest series of black and white portraits from the bohemian underbelly, featuring an arresting cast of neo-tribalists with a bent for extreme ink. In these riveting portraits, the standard vocabulary of dragons, skulls and other goth imagery are on display, along with a host of deeply personal and unique “tats.” Every single photo in the series, though, is a study in serious attitude and unself-conscious individuality…it’s a diverse, intriguing group and they all wear their ink well. For the subjects of IKONINK especially those who have thoroughly transformed themselves into human canvasses—tattoos are an essential means of self-expression and personal identity.
