The men and women of NYPD, Port Authority and Sanitation. A series exploring the resilience and bravery of these ordinary people caught up in extraordinary and devastating circumstances. The men and women in this portrait series spent the first three weeks working on the pile at ground zero. I wanted to capture their grief and trauma, the nature of resilience after devastating, life changing events and the reality of their lives in the aftermath of 9/11.
