Every year travellers and gypsies from all over Britain descend on the town of Appleby-in-Westmorland, Cumbria for the Appleby Horse Fair, a tradition which dates back to 1685. The main purpose of the Fair is the buying and selling of horses which is witnessed by huge crowds. I have been documenting the fair for a couple of years now. I love wandering around with my camera, talking with the travellers and hearing their stories. Through my photographs I try to capture the spirit of the Fair.
