For over two decades, I have been working with female models in staged settings, to create a world without any logical flow or narrative.
Although this is an ongoing project and not a series, I have created two artistbooks so far, each containing works from different periods: NOISE (2008) and HESTER (2021).
In HESTER, my photographs from 2008 to 2018 are bundled together.
HESTER is the title of one of the photographs featured and originally taken from a character in the novel, A Prayer for Owen Meany, by John Irving. I am drawn to this particular fictional female, Hester, because of her extreme nature; she is an extrovert, aggressive and chaotic, yet also sensitive, loving and charming.
With a lot of affection, I could call all the women in my photographs ‘Hester’.
