Over the last six months I have been working on a series of images photographing women wearing their old wedding dresses. I'm interested in their stories and exploring how they've changed as women since the day they were married.
As a wedding photographer, the project was perhaps borne out of my mixed feelings towards the wedding industry. For the last few years I've grappled with how I feel about working in this industry, where excess and flamboyancy often take centre stage. I suppose I wanted to poke a bit of fun at an industry that in my opinion seems to have taken one too many steroids. But at the heart of this, I'm interested in how women feel about their wedding day long after its over, and how nostalgic they really are? How have they changed since the day they said "I Do" and what's life like for them after the dress is packaged away....
