Since our personal background and past experience are unavoidable, I decided to work on the materials and faces of the people of my life.
I wished to include the exploration of identity by using my personal archive in connection with my family history enriching it with the anecdotes, the storytelling and the element witnessed from my relatives in order to capture my roots and save them from being swallowed by this fast disappearing world.
This peculiar photographic manipulation accelerates the dissolution of the portrait chosen with a drop of water (synchronizing the process with my heartbeat) shows the passage of time to work on an acetate print / copy whose fusion result modifies and alters the icon itself.
Interventions are then made with brushes and spatulas to move the raised emulsion, then dried and printed.
