This is a collection of images that I captured during my first train ride.
I was aboard the Potomac Eagle along the Potomac Rail Road in Romney, West Virginia. Romney is a small town located in Hampshire County, West Virginia and is one of the oldest, most historic towns in the state.
It was summer, the train was hot, and a lot more bumpy than I expected. I was overwhelmed with excitement and curiosity as I gazed out the small window in anticipation of the trains departure.
The sites were beautiful and the sounds were nothing less than interesting. There were views of gorgeous mountains and the rapid waters of the Potomac River. There were collapsed buildings covered rubble in empty plains. Abandoned, eery farm lands stood alone on the flat lands while hillside forests surrounded the farms from behind. Bald Eagles circled above us as the conductor spoke of the towns history. The aroma of popcorn filled the train as guests were snacking from the concession a view train carts down.
I went for a vintage/cinematic look for these images, because I felt this best fit the style of the images.
