Photos taken during a one week trip in Amsterdam, in August 2010. I came here by train from Berlin, where I had spent the previous week. I had perceived Berlin as a city of memory, and the photographs taken there focused on this aspect (see the gallery "Berlin 2010, a trip of the memory") . The sensations I got in Amsterdam were definitely much different, less emotional, more rational. Here I took quite usual landscapes and, unlike the series in Berlin, I haven't publish them on the web, so far, probably because I considered them less interesting. Now, after ten years, I went back to those photos and realize that they are in some way the counterpart of the Berlin series. After the emotional memories of the worst events of the history of the 20th century, photos in Amsterdam express the need of a positive escape from that events, a rational, optimistic point of view.
