Taoism is a Chinese philosophy from sixth century BCE. It teaches to be like water and go with the flow of whatever happens in life. To better understand this I swam in the North Sea. The shock of submerging into the 9°C seawater triggered my survival mentality, washing away my external stresses and worries. I only felt euphoria.
The first time I photographed in the North Sea, seawater leaked into my waterproof-camera, thus destroying it and the film inside. As a Taoist, I developed my film anyways, this choice presented me with visuals incomparable to anything I’ve ever seen before.
