Anyone who has been a photographer may have felt, the desire to come up from somewhere to
capture a moment. A mysterious question of where these are coming from.
Since the Heian period, creations that combine painting and tanka have been widely created.
However, my work is not about adding an appropriate caption to a single photo. Overlaying vast
and vague past memories with a single photo established at some point in the past, I create
new works using my words, or tanka by my mother, tanka poet. This work gave me a curious
feeling that I and my mother were watching the same thing at different places and times. I
thought that the photos I took in the past were for these tankas. I could imagine that my mother's
memory was also inherited to me. Because we already knew the memories we thought we didn't
know yet.
