When was the last time you took a walk through your or anyone else’s town? It could have been a planned excursion or the simple, spontaneous walk-out-the-door, no-idea-where-I’m-going kind. Regardless of the walk, have you ever noticed a peculiar rhythm and/or mood take over you?
We might find ourselves sucked into the convenient distractive stimulus of modern technology, or simply wrapped up in the abstract thought of everyday worries and woes. Either way, after enough time pounding the pavement, our immediate surroundings start passing by in a blur and take on forms that often have little or nothing to do with reality. That which might normally seem appealing or beautiful can warp into something hideous or repulsive. That which might normally seem mundane can suddenly fill us with inexplicable emotion.
And yet most of the time, we hardly notice the specific instances that pass by in the blink of an eye. Instead, we gather these instances together and pool them into a collective feeling. For some this feeling can be disturbing, for others delightful. No matter the final outcome, this series is meant to try and capture the fleeting moments in between.
