Over the years I have come to love taking portraits of people. Each person's life and history is bared before you and you, as a photographer, are tasked with the privilege and burden of representing their life story in an honest and respectful way. I try to do justice to the stories and the lives of those I meet. I try to return to the places I've been to continue my relationships with the people who have touched my world and allowed me to share theirs with everyone who sees the photographs. The human connection has always been important to me-even when it is uncomfortable or not ideal. We have much to learn from each other in our similarities and our differences and I think portrait photography is a beautiful way to open us up to a stranger's life and a stranger face to realize we all have a story that needs to be told.
