At the age of five, Julie received her first camera. She became immediately transfixed that this small box could unlock another dimension in her quest to tell stories.
Since childhood, Julie's travels have spanned 60 countries, camera always in hand. Studying philosophy, psychology, and classical music further strengthened and intensified her photographic pursuits. As a practicing psychoanalyst, she is curious about subconscious underpinnings in her work and the work of other photographers. Stylistically her work evokes great depth and mood through composition as a narrative device. Often her inspiration comes from small moments in far away places. Her upcoming projects include a gallery exhibition in Iceland, a book documenting her travels to Georgia and Azerbaijan. She has had over seven gallery shows between 2018-2019 in NYC and abroad-including 3 shows (one solo show) for Leica Camera. She currently studies at the ICP school in New York City and will start her Masters in Fine Art at the acclaimed School of Visual Arts.
